Hello, In the past few days, I’ve taken a strong interest in the Rack XS with the FW card. I have a small studio space and don’t need a keyboard as I use various MIDI guitar controllers. If there were a 25 key version of the MO6 with it’s DAW control and audio/MIDI interface, I’d spring for it. I’m thinking I could use the Rack XS/FW card as a sound source for Cubase 8. Is it too late in the cycle for this unit? I’m not hurting for sound sources as I have HALion 5, ST3, Kontakt, etc. Thoughts? |

Really probably depends on what price you’re looking at. The Rack XS is certainly not new technology, but it does offer you top quality Motif sounds in a controllable and permanent housing and that can still be money in the bank. The Rack XS has its fans and its detractors so look at the threads here and make sure any of the issues people have with the unit are not going to be a problem for you. |

Mr.Motif, Thank you for responding. I’m reading and taking notes and will post me thoughts, questions, and decisions as this process unfolds.

Hello,
I have Rack XS with FW. You should not think that it is late for this unit, since it is still the latest Motif in a rack version and it is supported with Yamaha apps on iPad. Sound quality and capabilities for recording using FW is a merit.

Alex,
Thank you for the heads up regarding Cubase 8.
C7.5 is also installed on my system just in case.
Best regards,
