I was trying to add a second foot pedal to my MOXF8 to try to control the Leslie and managed to turn off the volume pedal (FC7) somewhere in the software.  I checked the pedal with an ohm meter and it seems to be working, but has no effect on the volume.  The second pedal is now unplugged. Reset to factory did not help, so the change must be in the utility function.  I have it plugged into the “foot controller” jack and have FC1 set to 07 volume in the utility screen. It was working fine until my adventure into the utility mode. Made for a tough Friday night gig. My recent move from the reliable S80 has been a steeper learning curve than I hoped.  Thanks...tony

FC1 is set to 11{express} and saved, but still no volume control from the pedal on any voices.

Is the range set to off or a very low number?

Since a Factory Set returns EVERYTHING to Factory condition that is USER editable...including all Utility settings...it should have reset the FC to its original status.

It would appear there may be some other malfunction...perhaps hardware.  If not the pedal itself, perhaps within the machine.

So, the factory reset affects even the element settings (Everything)?  I suspect that is where the mistake occurred.

Since the factory reset clears all the mistakes I’ve made trying to set up the second pedal, it appears the problem may indeed be hardware related.  The FC7 is a carry over from my S80 and is several years old, but it seems highly suspicious that it stopped working when I was working in the setup.  I’ll try a new one pedal before I carry the keyboard in for service.  It is about a month old.  Thanks...tony

Having known this, something appeared amiss. We’ve seen Factory Sets performed followed by an All File load, unknowingly restoring the issue. The mention of testing the FC7 seems to have addressed that to this point although an intermittent problem could exist there. The MOXF has had a very good track record thus far. I would verify the operation of the FC7 with another unit while flexing the cord and if possible try a different FC7 on the unit.

Thanks for the feedback.  I’ll try the pedal on a demo model at the music store after work today.  Another interesting symptom is when I plug in the pedal, no sounds are produced (vol=0 ?) until I change voices.  Then the volume is back but no change by the pedal.

Follow up on the missing fc7 function.  Got a new FC7, plugged it in, works good as new.  Now I’ll try to replace the pot on the old FC7 to keep as a spare.  I’ve seen the links on replacement.  Anyone have a quick link to a part supplier for the rheostat?

I ordered several last night.  8 cents each plus 7.95 shipping.  Definitely worth the gamble.  If I can figure out how to get the pedal apart without breaking anything this should be fairly easy.
Any suggestions about dis-assembly?  It looks like the shaft running through the pedal pivot point comes off first, unless there is a better way.  Maybe through the bottom.

Yes, remove the pivot shaft and you’ll have two halves and easy access.

By the way, it’s a good idea to check continuity of the cord, all three conductors, while flexing it at the strain reliefs.

I replace the rheostat and plugged the pedal in. It worked one time and then quit.....turns out the cord was shorting about a foot from the plug.  One new stereo plug, a little solder and it is working great.  I have six extra rheostats that I’ve offered on Craigslist for local musicians.  Thanks for all the help.  This project was easy and turned out to be a cheap, easy repair...tony
