Although I have had my MOXF6 for some time and it is a fantastic instrument, great voices, I have to say there is one area of disappointment, the speed when loading or saving. Surely backing up your settings shouldn’t take the time it does. I mean I did a backup which was about 555MB in size, this took in excess of 3/4 hour, even allowing for normal speeds of reading and writing from or to a USB stick, it shouldn’t take that long by comparison to say a Windows PC. I am unsure what operating system Yamaha use on their synths, but perhaps a progress bar or the percentage of the task in question might help so you have an idea how long you will have to wait. Come on Yamaha, buck your ideas up and release an update to speed up this annoying area on a fantastic keyboard. Grandad 1946 |

Hi,
I’m sure you’re not the first one to notice the long load/save times. Unfortunately, the data transfer speed is limited by the internal hardware (the controllers and bus speeds are not comparable to those of a modern PC, by the way). A firmware update therefore won’t improve it. For what it’s worth, the Motif instruments run an embedded Linux OS. I agree that a progress bar for file transfers would be helpful, and honestly should have been there from the beginning. I wouldn’t hold my breath for an update, though; The last one (v1.50) is already more than a decade old. On a side note, this is probably not the best place to get in touch with Yamaha staff. The Motifator forum is owned by Keyfax, and is not affiliated with Yamaha. - H - |
