I have MOXf with the extra board for Sampling. Problem is, I really have a only a vague idea what that means. I THINK it means that I can import Voices from other sources and use those voices just as I would onboard Voices.

But I’m perfectly happy using Preset Voices and the after-market voices Dave P has created for Organ and Guitar and Electric Keyboard which are NOT samples just major creative tweaks.

So what MIGHT I want do with that extra capability?

Well, I wish I could have harmony vocals on many songs, and find the Voice harmonizers to be annoying and distracting and I’m looking to streamline things, not add another real-time processor.

Can I record vocal harmony parts that can be laid into my Songs? I’m thinking, no, because a one-off sound would have to be triggered and unless the tempo and key signature and other (?) remained the same. But then, I’m using the MOXF to build backing tracks that I play and sing along with and they don’t change tempo or key signature.

So feel free to disabuse me of this notion and perhaps pour a little knowledge into my head so that I might better understand what’s going on with samples and sampling and what MIGHT be possible.

The MOXF, unlike a Motif XF, has no sampling capability. It can store Samples/Waveforms from other sources (such as sample libraries) on an optional flash memory module, and play them back.

See http://www.motifator.com/index.php/support/view/moxf_flash_board

You might consider purchasing one or more of the MOXF videos…
