If you’d like to see this happen and want to find out what else this wonderful hardware can do, add your vote to this post on IdeaScale asking that Yamaha release the code which would allow community developers the opportunity to continue the development of the software running in the Motif XF.

Yamaha requires that you create an account to join and vote. Here is a direct link to the account creation page.

This sounds like a great idea but I have a question; Is Yamaha actively polling this issue or is this a users group with wishful thinking?

The reason I ask is that you mention “Yamaha requires that you create an account to join and vote” but it’s really Ideashare that wants us to create an account.  Last I checked, Yamaha is not Ideashare and I’m not interested in signing up on another random website just to cast a vote on a subject that the company in question won’t even acknowledge.

That said, I would LOVE to have my XF’s software updated.  Just yesterday I hit the wall when trying to set Master Mode to transmit a MIDI CC value higher than 95 : (

Depending on exactly what you need to do, there may be a workaround. However, I don’t want to hijack this thread, so please post again under a different topic if you want to discuss this further, providing more details.

IdeaScale is a bit of third-party software, but this particular subdomain is indeed operated by Yamaha themselves and they’ve asked that users direct requests to that website. They have two employees monitoring the site, one from the US and one in Japan. In the past, they’ve contacted a few IdeaScale users directly, inviting them to a video conference in order to discuss requests and issues. It also appears that some of the features introduced in Montage OS 3.0 and MODX OS 2.0 were sourced from IdeaScale submissions.

You can see Yamaha’s announcement and a link to the IdeaScale community at their YamahaSynth website here.
