Hello, Very part time user here: is it possible to vary the octave in each individual voice when I’ve done a (say, 4 part) keyboard split?, So, for instance, I could have the center sound (middle c area) on the upper (or lower keyboard). Thanks for any help, Bob |

Each Part can Note Shifted up to +/- 24 semitones (2 octaves). See [F4]-[SF1] Part Tone Tune on page 173 of the Motif Owner’s Manual. |

Thank you, this was very helpful. I take it that 2 octaves is the limit of note shift. (I think it’s enough, but am just asking) Again, thanks for replying, Bob |

You’re welcome. Yes, Note Shift is limited to +/- 2 octaves. If you need to move pitch further, it has to be done at the Voice level, to each Element of the Voice. Coarse Pitch can be changed by +/- 48 semitones. See [F2]-[SF1] Normal Element Pitch Tune on page 138 of the Owner’s Manual. However, doing so can affect the characteristic sound of the Voice. It’s best to use Note Shift as much as possible, and minimize the use of Coarse Pitch.
This thread, although concerning the Motif XF, goes into more detail on the topic:
