Hi Folks,

im am trying to integrate my XS into CubasePro 9.

To have the XS playing nice, i already created two buttons in the midi-device definition of cubase:
One setting ‘Local OFF’,
One putting the XS to Pattern mode.
(both is done via sending sysex-commands)
This works nicely.

There is just one more point: I cannot use the first pattern as ‘empty default’, because i use the XS in a live setup, too. So i’ll have to switch to the last pattern (64) manually.

It would be nice if that could be done via MIDI.
I thaught ‘MIDI Song select’ might do this, but Cubase cannot send that. (Or did not figure out, how...)

Even nicer would be, if I could also switcht to the ‘Pattern MIX’ display via midi.

Does anybody know how to achieve this?

Welcome to the forum.

MIDI Song Select works in both Song and Pattern modes with the XS.
(It’s the only way to select a Song/Pattern on the XS via MIDI.)
The message is of the form F3 nn
where nn = 00~3F (hex) = 01~64 (decimal)

To select Pattern 64, the XS should be sent F3 3F

If, or how, that can be accomplished in Cubase I’ll leave to you.

I’m unaware of any MIDI message that could select the MIX display.

SongSelect seems to be a problem in cubase ever since.
Just thinking about a way around this:

Defining a master which loads pattern 64.
This can be stored on the motif in the autoload file.

The activation sequence would then be:

-Switching to master mode (via sysex)
-Selecting the correct master (this should work either via prgchange or sysex)
-Switching back to pattern mode (via sysex)

That should work, except selecting a Master number can only be done with a Parameter Change SysEx message (not Program Change).
