The MOX can load a type/format 0 or 1 Standard MIDI File (SMF). What sort of trouble are you having?

thank-you 5pindin for your reply. You were very helpful. I appreciate you lurking on this forum occasionaly.
That solved the midi sync pattern and the midi problem is solved as well.

Now I can be confident buying Twiddley bits drums and percussion in midi format as well as guitar riffs for arps for the mox...PERFECT for my live single gig.
Again thank-you.

As I went to buy the drums and percussion set from Twiddley bits
I noticed that the midi files are in gm format. Will that be a problem for my MOX6? I only need pre 4 dry drums probably,or is the mapping that different?

Thx Robin

I’m not sure that I understand your question. The MOX has a GM Drum Kit, plus 64 others. Mapping/assignment for the GM kit is given on page 28 of the MOX Data List (http://download.yamaha.com/file/52367), with assignment for the other kits beginning on page 12.

I read that the mox kits are a slightly different mapping than general midi. But as long as the basic kick snare hi hat etc are ok I can handle that.

Also, It seems that if I am going to use Acoustic and Electric guitar from Twid Bits then there is really no difference getting .X4P (MOX)
or midi format ($35 vs $30)
...since they are patterns and I want to use them for arps anyways.

true?

The MOX GM kit should be mapped like the Standard GM kit. The other 64 kits have variations in the drum sounds, but the basic mapping is similar to GM in many of them. If you use the Data List, you can compare mappings.

The MOX Normal and Drum GM Voices are based on Waveforms that are used for Voices in the other banks. I don’t know for certain, but the MOX/.X4P version might use Voices that are not the ones in the GM bank, and possibly sound a bit better.

Perhaps MrMotif or someone else at Keyfax could clarify that.
