Hi! I have a midi of “Original Rags” by Scott Joplin. I have used this file many times in the last six (6) years in my Yamaha Clavinova CVP-305, and everything has worked fine. Today I tried loading it into my Motif XF8. The file came up in Song Mode’s File load window after I set “File Type” to SMF, as it is a midi file. When I selected the file and pressed load, it took a few seconds and then gave me an error message, “No Data”. As I said before, I have used this file MANY times before, and it has worked fine. So, I tried loading some of my other files, but got the same message every time! All of these files work in other cases, but refuse to load in my Motif. Any ideas as to what is happening? Thanks! -Max |

If you’re willing to post (ZIP, then attach) one of the files you’re having trouble with, I or someone else could likely help. |

Here is the file. Just to double check that the file does have data, I loaded it into Finale. It pulls up a score, like normal, so the file does have data. -Max File Attachments

I loaded the file into my XF, which took a couple of seconds and concluded with the message “Completed”. It plays without problem. The XF display indeed shows plenty of data for tracks 1 and 2, and track 3 has only a single G1 note in the last measure (189) at velocity 001. The “No Data” message typically only occurs with a Song or Pattern Job problem, and not while loading a file. After loading the .MID file (SMF, as per pages 247-248 of the XF Reference Manual), what did you do next? |

The confirmation window appears. I press the Yes button. Several seconds later, it tells me, “No Data,” and loads nothing. It never loads. -Max |

What is the exact name of the file you’re trying to load, as seen on the XF’s display? What is the size shown for that file? |

OK, that’s what I suspected - it’s the wrong file. People complain about Windows, but Macs can cause confusion also. Â :-) The correct one is originarags1899l.mid (without the “dot-underscore"), with a file size of 17.9 kB.
