Hey sorry to bother you guys with something so mundane but still annoying for me :) I have WIN10 64 bit and a Motif ES Rack I connect the ES to the PC via USB and it comes up in the DEVICES AND PRINTERS screen as a YAMAHA MOTIF-RACK ES If I click on it the status is DRIVER IS UNAVAILABLE I have tried to install the driver file um3141x64 and nothing changes Click on the icon in DEVICES AND PRINTERS and trouble shoot etc just leads me on a reboot and no change The device is NOT CONNECTED in Cubase 8.5 obviously due to the above What stupid thing have I missed here? |

Welcome to the forum, Steve Turner. You might not have missed anything. I’ll presume that you carefully followed the driver installation instructions.
Windows compatibility mode might be the fix - see the answer given in the following and please let us know if the problem is resolved:

Sadly no luck there I tried it setting compatibility to WIN 7 and that didnt work Uninstalled everything, unplugged all USB except mouse and keys and tried all again Just not happening at the moment I havent had this issue before it is a fresh WIN10 install and I am pretty sure I had it working last time Should I just plug in to the Motif via standard midi instead of USB? |

Sometimes a different USB port will help. If not… If following the procedure in the Installation Guide doesn’t work, then I’d suggest that you contact Yamaha Support.

Thanks Mr Din I tried a few things, then a few more and could not make it work so I blew away my WIN10 install and started again from scratch Interestingly the same thing happened again. Basically the Yamaha Motif ES Rack shows in the DEVICES panel but shows as no driver available. So I went to the US Yamaha site and downloaded what looks like the SAME file (latest version, Windows, 64 bit) and it worked perfectly. The step that was different was it actually went through the driver install dialogue whereas the other package did NOT. I have no idea how or why this occurred as the original download was from Yamaha as well (possibly Australia, not sure) So having to rebuild was but I have it down to a fine art now so it didn’t take that long. Cortana can piss off though. |

I’m sorry that you had such a frustrating experience, and I’m glad that you managed to get things working properly. Thanks for posting the resolution, since it may help others.
The site I usually suggest getting Rack ES downloads from is:
