Hey peeps,

I’m trying to get that rising synth sound right before the chorus for Locked Out Of Heaven and I’m having some trouble. It basically is a lead synth that glides up an octave.

With portamento on I can get it to sound right if I first hit the lower note, then if I hit the upper note it will glide to it. I would like to not have to hit the lower note for it to glide up. Basically I want a lead synth sound that will glide up an octave on it’s own. Is potamento even the right thing to be exploring here?

right now I have the pitch wheel set up and it’s passable, but doesn’t quite sound right and makes it more difficult to play.

Thanks!

You might want to become familiar with the Pitch Envelope Generator (PEG). See page 40 of the MOXF Reference Manual (http://download.yamaha.com/file/60478), and the Synthesizer Parameter Manual (http://download.yamaha.com/file/60487) beginning on page 9.

Do you have the Melas software? I can save and post the single voice with it of this sound. The glide comes from playing a left hand note.
