Hi guys,
I have a MOTIF Classic, MOX6 & XF7 and I have been creating, sampling & collecting patches & sounds over the last few years, but my library is all messed up and I want to sort everything according to what model it belongs to. Is there a document that lists what the file extensions between all the different MOTIF synths are?

Thanks :)

Classic .W2 + .W3
ES .W7 + .W8
MO .M7 + .M8
XS .X0
MOX .X4
XF .X3
MOXF .X6*

*edit: originally posted as .X4 in error.

Minor correction…
MOXF  .X6

In addition…
The XF is completely compatible with XS data, and compatible to a great degree with ES data.

Thank you fellas, if nobody was going to reply I was going to download all the MOTIF manuals and scan through them for the answer. This helps me out and saves me that hassle :)

Also just based on my own knowledge, I can also add that the 3rd letter in the extension stands for the following:

V = Voice data
E = Patch data
G = Arpeggio data
P = Drum Pattern Data
A = Any combination of the above plus system settings

Please correct me if I’m wrong ;)

V = All Voice
P = All Pattern
S = All Song
G = All Arpeggio
W = All Waveform
A = All User data (Voices, Performances, Masters, Patterns, Songs, Waveforms, Samples can be optional, System)
E = Editor (contains User Voices and Mix data for use with the Yamaha Editor, User Voices can be loaded directly to Motif)

Thank you for the correction 5pinDIN, it’s much appreciated. My life as a serial mono-tasker suffers from a lack of focus at times.

Interesting indeed, thank you.
It appears as though there is a fair number of mono-taskers out there, most likely the majority of our population. I’ll take this as evidence that I’m normal. Not sure others will buy it though.
