Hi,
There is a very good chance that this is an “operator head gap” issue. I understand what a “voice” is in terms of data. But what are “waveforms” and “samples”? If you can point me to the right section of any of the manuals for my Moxf8, I would appreciate it very much. Thank you in advance. |

“Samples” are digital sound recordings. A “Keybank” maps Samples over a range of keys. A “Waveform” can organize Keybanks, and therefore could include multiple Samples, so that a different Sample is played over a range of keys or key velocities. |

Thank you so much for your response but I am still a little confused.
If I get what you said.. “Keybanks” have “Samples” in them and “Waveforms” contain “Keybanks”? |

That’s the general idea. Since your MOXF doesn’t have a sampler, Samples and Waveforms are what you’ll be dealing with. Keybanks are part of the hierarchy, but more relevant to sampling models such as the XS (but not the Rack) and XF.
Perhaps this support article will help to clarify things:

Yes
A keybank is a single sample. A waveform is a collection of one or more keybanks. |

Keybanks can have either mono or stereo samples. It might be just semantics, but I’d consider stereo to be two samples, since it’s possible for left and right to be completely different sounds. |
