Yamaha sometimes releases new “goodies” for existing products at the time of a show. It appears that Yamaha has “jumped the gun” for Musikmesse, and the following (which apparently was intended for April 15) is now online:
MOXF6/MOXF8 Ujiie Special Voices:
This is an “Additional Sample Library” - the zip file contains one approximately 2.5 MB file, UJ_VOICE.X6A I haven’t found any further information, although “Ujiee” is likely Katsunori Ujiie. If anyone doesn’t know who that is, Google the name. Â :-) Since there’s only an .X6A file, someone who has a MOXF please let the rest of us know what’s in UJ_VOICE.X6A Thanks. |

Well, I may not have a MOXF, but I’ve got a hex editor, and a bit of snooping in the .X6A file revealed these Voices and/or Masters:

Aren’t these just the splits and layers he used in the new MOXF promo video?

That may be the case - I wrote “Additional Sample Library” because Yamaha describes it that way, but I mentioned the 2.5 MB size because it provides a clue to the contents. I also mentioned what my snooping in the file appeared to reveal. Any MOXF owner could download the file, load it, and enlighten us. (Of course, back up your own data before loading an “All” file.) If that’s too difficult, I guess it will remain a mystery. Â :-) |

Hint taken but I’m currently not near my MOXF and even though I admire Mr Ujiie and enjoy his videos, the voices weren’t my cup of coffee. ;-) |

The “hint” wasn’t necessarily directed at you. As of this time, there have been 136 views of this thread, and nobody besides the two of us has posted. I thought there might be more interest by MOXF users. Oh well… |

I imported the file into John Melas Waveform Editor. There are no user waveforms in that file...just the above mentioned two new user voices:
UJ*DynaROSE (USR1: 001)
I converted the file to Motif XF format (.x3a); you can download it here. Didn’t try them myself yet. Best regards, :) Jo |

Thanks for doing that. However, I suspect there’s more to it. I see other things in the file that don’t appear to be factory material. The .X6A file is about 2.5 MB, the Melas converted one is about 1 MB. Since there’s incompatibility between the MOXF and XF for some things (such as Patterns/Songs), that could explain part of the discrepancy. However, although Performances should be compatible between the MOXF and XF, the Melas file has all the Performances initialized. It would be useful if a MOXF owner would take a look at all the Voices, Performances, Masters, Patterns/Songs, and tell us what might be new. |

Ah, I see! Looking again at the file with the Total Librarian, I could identify some more content in the file that apparantly got lost in the conversion process: Voices:
UJ*DynaROSE (USR1: 001)
Performances:
S6 GrandPiano + DXEP (PERF1, 001)
Masters:
UJ*DynaROSE (MASTER 001)
See also the screenshot taken from this translated site. All the best, :) Jo |

Thanks for posting. Like the above post, I found 2 Voices, 2 Performances, and then 4 Masters which used these Voices/Performances. No new songs/patterns that I could find. There may be some Performances and Masters that are based on a different Motif synth’s factory set, but I didn’t verify that. I just didn’t recognize some of the names I ran across. Most of my MOXF ALL saves (no waveforms) run between 2.5 and 3 MB. |

I just installed inspiration in a flash a few nights ago, so if I am to attempt to download additional sounds (be it this or others) will it automatically assign itself to a user program on the keyboard? I’m afraid of wiping what I’ve just put on it!! |

I’ll confess that at least 6 of those hits were mine. Each time I was interrupted, and while I currently do not have a MOXF, I do appreciate your effort in supplying links to offers such as these. I rarely have time to surf for material of this nature and when I find linked posts by you and others as well, it is of great help.
Thanks Man,

Your fear is well founded. All new VOICES, PERFORMANCES, etc. are USER data . ALL USER locations in the machine contain something. So, setting aside new Sample data...which is irrelevant for this discussion...ANY new VOICE or PERFORMANCE you install in the machine will overwrite something else. The key is proper management of your USER data. That includes proactively SAVING ALL files (to USB drive) of important USER data before LOADING new VOICES, which allows you to re-capture it at will. It also means knowing beforehand where you are sending the new VOICES or PERFORMANCES (you have control over this!) and thereby knowing exactly what you are overwriting. When you LOAD new USER data, either you tell it where you want it to go, or it will LOAD to its default programmed destination...and overwrite whatever happens to be there. There are literally dozens of threads here that deal with this topic. Do a bit of searching and see what comes up. Let us know if you are not able to find helpful information. |

A further look at the “All” file with a hex editor reveals:
I don’t recognize them as being from the factory. If they’re not, has anyone located them in the MOXF after UJ_VOICE.X6A is loaded? |
