I am trying to get my MOX working with Cubase.

I have Win7/64 and Cubase 6/64bit

I see the current USB driver is 1.9.2 but read on another forum the MOX will not work with anything above USB 1.6.1 is this correct?

On the Yamaha Site they have USB 1.9.3 and USB V 1.7.3(32 bit) and USB V1.7.3(64 bit) so is USB 1.9.3 both 32bit and 64bit?

In Windows/Control Panel/Programmes I have 2 Yamaha Drivers showing...Yamaha Steinberg USB Driver (v 1.6.1) and I also have Yamaha USB-MIDI driver (v 3.1.3.1) why do I have 2?

I do have my 01v96 connected by USB, is that why I have 2 USB drivers showing?

So you’re using both 32bit and 64bit, how does that work out? what’s the point in having both?

I have been using Cubase for a very long time and have work done in 32 bit long before 64 bit was offered for Cubase.

So you’re NOT using 32bit now?

Hi Acoustimax,

I’m using the Yamaha Steinberg USB Driver 1.9.2 with my MOX8, Cubase 8, Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit. No problems, except Cubase 8 freezes once in a while. I’m still waiting for Steinberg to address this, as are hundreds of others, I’m sure.

I have another driver. It’s the Yamaha USB-MIDI Driver (WDM). This one works for my Tyros 5. Do have another keyboard?

I have Cubase V7.5 (32 bit) and Cubase V7.5 (64 bit) both installed as separate programs on my PC and use both with my MOX6 no problems.

I decided to go with the 1.9.2 driver and have now got the remote and VST editor software working, but weird things happen.

For example I play a note, the Cubase Drum Editor opens, I play another note and Cubase Media Bay opens!!!

I put the MOX in what I understand to be multi-timbral mode - Song or Pattern.
I start Cubase running, a snatch of music plays,

I stop Cubase, the Motif Sequencer stops,

then after a few moments, to starts up again all of it’s own - this MOX is getting on my box, am thinking of going back to my Triton Extreme, glad I decided not to sell it yet

I had the exact same thing happen! I would play a few notes on my MOX8, and all sorts of windows and dialog boxes started opening in Cubase.

I fixed it, but I can’t remember exactly how. I’m almost positive it had something to do with my VST connections or improper signal routing. Perhaps someone can chime in on this. Going back to the Triton is not necessary.

Can someone kick in some ideas here?

Sounds to me you are attempting to use the Re mote Editor and not the VST Editor.

Just a guess.

Just a guess.

I opened the Remote Editor, couldn’t make any sense of it, so closed it, then opened the VST editor, when I selected a new instrument in VST editor, it changed in the editor, but the sound displayed and sounding on the MOX didn’t change. But I pressed a key on the MOX keyboard and the drum editor opened!!!!

Can you post screen shots of your VST Connections and Track Editor settings? Describe your signal routing and what sound interface you’re using. Give all details no matter if you think they aren’t important.

As mentioned, I had the same problem but fixed it somehow. After I see how things are connected, I can compare your connections to mine. I’m using the MOX8 with the Editor VST.

I went through this with Cubase 8, and with Bill Grosse’s help, I was able to figure out where things were configured wrong. (I thought I would drive the poor man nuts--Thanks again Bill!).

I am assuming you are selecting “Voice” Mode on the MOX when using the VST Editor in Voice mode.

Each time you activate the editor in Cubase, it should load either the current voice and it’s data from the MOX or send the current voice and it’s data in the editor to the MOX, depending on the setup you have set in the editor.

I’d send you a pic of my editor setup, but when I click on the cutout, the window disappears. Seems there is a picture of the proper settings in the Editor manual.

The best thing I can recommend for getting your MOX/Cubase to working together is the article by Phil Clendeninn found at the following link.
go there and read from top to bottom, setting your settings as in the included photos. I did this and my setup worked first time and every time thereafter:
