Hi, I’m new and I’m lost.

I can’t get my xs to automatically play from one catagory to the next
(it just loops on catagory A) and will not proceed to cat b. I have it in chain mode and it will not progress to cat B. any suggestions would be appreciated.

Not sure how you set it up, but when you go into Chain, you need to then record.  Select your pattern where you want to start, say Section A.  As its recording you have to manually punch in the next section you want to follow, such as B, C, etc.

Then when you play back the newlyrics recorded chain, It will play from section to section as you recorded it.  You can manually punch in the parameters in chain edit mode rather than record, but you’ll have to do the math first to know exactly how many bars you want to play in each section as it plays through

As richie1027 explained, you have to record the Chain.
Details are in the XS Owner’s Manual, page 214.
