I have a MIDI file (Song) with a stream of expression command events creating a “fadeout” of the Song. Basically, going from full volume to 00 at the end of the song on all the tracks. Whenever I re-cue the Song to the top, I lose volume on all but one or two tracks (that don’t have the Expression commands). I’m sure it’s the Expression command causing this but not sure what command/event I need to place at the end of the Song and/or at beginning to reset things to full volume? I don’t think a Full Reset command is what I need. Do I have to remove all those Expression events and re-do the fade out? If so, should I use a command other than Expression to avoid the same problem?

I tried inserting cc 011 (Expression) at 127 as the very LAST event on tracks that have Expression fade outs, but it didn’t work. I then tried inserting it as the very first event. Is there a Universal command somewhere thwarting me?

I’d normally expect that what you did would cause the level to be maximized, assuming CC#11 is how the fade was done. Did you use [F1]CHANGE (page 84 of the Reference Manual) to view the Event List and verify the CC#11 events?

You could use [F2]VIEW FLT (View Filter) with Control Change checked to see if there are any unanticipated events, such as CC#7 (Volume).

Solution was to insert CC 11 at 127 as the last event on every track. Not sure that’s the most efficient method, but the Song now re-cues properly. Maybe would work with the event on the first measure, but this worked so I’m sticking with it. Btw is there any way to eliminate the 127 events per track (that use up synth memory) it requires to do a precise fade out with CC#11 or is that just the nature of the MIDI beast?

See 06: Thin Out on page 93 of the MOX Reference Manual. You may be able to apply the Job several times, or not, depending on what you find acceptable.

Thanks. That’s a means and method I didn’t consider.
