Really liked the look of this! Useful DVD to have. Sadly shipping cost to UK (if I understood it correctly) of circa $50 makes it a bit prohibitive. Any idea if Yamaha UK may be taking a quantity? I’ll nag them from this end!

Hi pianoman,

Well… the program really is focused on the sequencer engine, which is (incredibly enough) largely unchanged from the original Motif! The video was shot on a Motif XF, which makes it completely compatible with Motif XS, almost entirely with MOXF/MOX and, as mentioned, substantially with any Motif.

Unfortunately, the S90ES does not have a multi-track sequencer so while the ‘concepts’ of building up a recording will make sense the only aspects of the video that will be directly relevant will be sections on arpeggios, effects, mastering etc. I don’t think that would be sufficient justification by itself unfortunately.

Assuming you either are or want to use a DAW for recording then you’re probably best looking for general music production program. If you’re using Cubase, we have some Cubase-specific titles that could be interesting, plus if you’re looking for a soup-to-nuts look at modern recording we’d have to recommend Alan Parsons’ Art & Science Of Sound Recording. This is based on DAW recording (ProTools and Cubase mainly) but deals with all aspects of the modern idiom from tools to techniques.

You might want to quickly check out some of the other pre-sale deals we have for the new Music Production with Motif video because you can almost get one or two of the titles I mention for free!

There is nothing that sounds as great as your S90ES.
(I wish I had been a keys player instead of a strings-man
back when they were first introduced)
For yourself, if you’ve ever wanted to get an XF,
and if it fits your usage,
you would not believe the newest White Motif XF8!
I just took their offer and the latest Yamaha 40 Years of Synths promotion.
The package that comes free with it is incredible!
Plus there are rebates for accessories.
It’s running for about another 10 months.
I try not to go on and on about it, if you have questions, just ask :)
I’m not a Yamaha, Motifator, or Sweetwater employee, just a writer/player
like everyone else.... most everyone else! ;-)
The new White version has the same specs as my Sept’11 black twin,
but, it must be the shimmering pearl-white
that seems to make it sound better! :)
For those of us who’ve took the plunge,
these videos offered by Keyfax.com and at the Shop @ Motivator
are exceptionally good, nailing issues everyone wishes they could master.
I’ve purchased several products from the motifatorShop,
.... all delivered without issue.
These folks remind me of a.s.c.a.p.
.... this MotifatorForum, it’s Shop, and the separate KeyfaxNew Media.com
are owned by ‘players,writer’s,producers, programmers,etc’,
not the usual ‘business types’.
