I received my new XF7 in 8/2013 with great promotional voice collections (Twisted Tools Selections, Chick’s MKV DCP, CP1 Library, etc.).  When I select “voice” as type in the file menu (to load individual voices), I find EVERY collection lists the same voices found in the XF’s original USR 1 voices (Natural Grand S6, Piano Rock S6, etc).  It seems every voice is overwritten exactly the same way.  No Chick voices, no drum voices…

I’m pretty good at this, but how did I precisely duplicate all these voices in every collection found on these USB drives that came with the XF?  I’d love to recover the originals somehow… I’d appreciate any suggestions.

You’ve duplicated nothing and have your voices. Highlight the desired file, press enter and then press User 2, 3, or 4 to locate the voices of that file, depending on how the file was designed.

Most XF files are created leaving User 1 intact due to the fact that they are not copies of Preset banks.

I do sooo appreciate your reply stoneb3.  Simple things often get overlooked until replies like this focus your attention a little tighter.  Thanks for taking the time to explain!!

Hey cal900, you’re welcome. I hope you are enjoying your new machine, it’s got a lot to offer. You’ve probably noticed there’s a fair share of kind and helpful people here more than willing to lend a hand if need be. Welcome aboard.

I’m thankful for future help, too. This is probably not the last time I’ll find something I overlooked.  Anyway, can I be like you when I grow up?

Absolutely not! Few have survived the road I have traveled which was fraught with danger and peril at every intersection. Besides if you are older than ten years in age you have likely eclipsed my greatest achievements.

I’m a big fan of self-deprecation.

Is it common in Central New York?

Nah, near as I can tell I’m the only one. Everyone else is just normal. Actually it’s a compassion mechanism I’ve developed for those who may be less fortunate.  Might need tweaking, change the age to 16.
