I just purchased a MOXF6, trying to get that wavering-detuned organ sound at the beginning of Prince’s Let’s Go Crazy.  I’m thinking it’s an LFO modulation effect, but I just can’t seem to dial it in. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

First off, that “organ” sound came from an Oberheim OB8. It’s a synth organ. The “wavering” comes from a couple of things - the sound has a
hevay chorus effect with the rate set to fairly slow and depth quite extreme. The other is that Prince used the pitch bend wheel to “bend”
the sound downward slightly and then back up in the intro.

I’d start with one of the synth comp voices that is close in timbre and set the element pitches so they’re octaves apart, brighten up the filter, apply the chorus, etc.
