Can anyone recommend a good dust cover for the Yamaha MOXF8?

I have seen the Gator stretchy cover but I’m worried about the stress it could cause the 8 assignable knobs.

I just need something that I can place over the top of the synth without the need to lift it up and cover the underside as well.

I am based in the UK so any recommendations from UK users would be greatly appreciated.

Blake.

I have bought for my ES at KeyFax. Instrument is highly protected and it comes in a nice metal box.
Another one I have bought two months ago at Guitar Center, Boston, during my visit to USA.
This one was about $20 and now I’m using it for MOXF6.
I could suggest you to consider this one at KeyFax, but whatever you find should be suitable
if it is for 61-76 keys and has a cord for straighten the cover around keyboard.
You should not be afraid for knobs.

Thanks for the advice Alex.

I will have a look at that. The knobs do feel nice and solid on the MOXF8 but just thought it wise to stay clear of anything that might be a tight fit.

I remember when I had my Roland Fantom X, loads of people where complaining about the assignable knobs doing strange things without even touching them. It transpires it was because of the way the knobs where soldered to the motherboard. So any small amount of pressur, like an ill fitting flight case, would render them useless!

Thanks for the info Jerry. Trouble is I live in the UK, not sure if I would be able to purchase one of those here.

Well that’s damned descent of you to say the least but I think with shipping costs and maybe dreaded import tax I would end up paying a lot more for it but I do appreciated your kind offer Jerry.

Thank you.

Hi Blake,

I got the Gator stretchy cover a year or so ago. It fits very well, it is not too tight and I don’t think that it puts any stress on the knobs.

Cheers,
Chris

Thanks Chris.

I saw that and did wonder about the snug fit and if it would have any adverse effect on the knobs. Does the cover just fit over the top and then you pull the draw string to make sure it doesn’t come off?

Thanks,

Blake.

Blake,

The material stretches over the top and sides of the keyboard.

1) You don’t have to pull the drawstring ball (I removed mine, as it wasn’t necessary), because the cover fits fine without doing so.
2) The fabric is a light weight stretchy material, so no, it won’t damage the knobs.

Maybe a Rockbag, for example http://www.thomann.de/nl/rockbag_dc_rb_21731_b_98.htm?
They come in a lot of sizes and are cheap.
Simple, easy cleanable (damp cloth), stretches in the corners (so you can wrap them around your keyboard). Got one for my S70XS.

Just for future reference...anyone interested in a well-made, precise-fitting dust cover for their Yamaha synth/keyboard/workstation should check out this U.K. site… http://www.pianocoversonline.co.uk/yamaha-keyboard-covers-white-logo-p-262.html
The site contacts are curteous, provide prompt shipping, and respond to any inquiries. Items are reasonably priced, but you’ll take a slight hit on overseas postage.
(Too bad these nice “Yamaha logo” items are not available through Yamaha USA itself.)
