When will the XF be updated?  Will the Motif series continue?  Or a new series is in the pipeline?

And what do users want to see improved in the XF?

I’ve had my xf 11/2 yrs and still haven’t tapped into many features. Personally I’m in no rush for a new version
This board is simply magnificent for me.

+1.  I’ve had mine for 2 years and finally added 1G of flash and started snapping up sample libraries that brought tons of amazing new sounds and possibilities.  There will come a time when the Motif XF is replaced by something, but even then, its hard to imagine making a change from a board that does everything i can imagine wanting to do.

Adding another keyboard (vs. replace my XF)....maybe.  :-)

Motif XF is a very deep instrument and you can see it from the several articles our hero Bad Mister wrote about.

Everything can be improved, I’d be stupid if I stated that Motif XF was the perfect workstation to have, anyway I think it’s quite close to the concept of a good integrated working surface.
The user interface is not straightforward, but not impossible to live with. On the other hand, it’s a powerful musical instrument.

All that said, when a Motif XF is featured with 2 GB of FlashRAM, mLan if needed, a bank of external good waveforms and all the Voices actually avaliable, you’re ok for, at least, the next 5 years to come.

I own Motif XF7 since december 2011 - assuming that music is not my job - I scratched just the surface of this wonderful instrument. Thus, as I did with other instruments, I’ll change it only when it will be really superseeded by another one. Anyway I’m not sure in 2020 I’ll know every aspect of my Motif XF.

Hi,

Muzikmesse 2014 March 12-15.

Not sure if YAMAHA will show their next workstation and/or new synth during this show. but.. there is always a slight chance.

Am I optimistic ?

No I’m not.

We shall see ;-)

Yamaha will release a new version of the Motif this time - called Motif XF WH.

Sorry, that’s apparently going over my head. What’s WH?

Some (bad) guesses:
We Hope
When Here
Whole + Half (1.5 times the original)
Well-Heeled (only the wealthy can afford it)
Woodwind/Harmonia (very specialized version)

;-)

@Vikas and @5pin,
hahaha !
Too Funny!
+1
The machine sitting in front of me is as good as I need!  :)

“Some of our best work was stolen” my favorite line.
(could it mean, I need to file a ‘theft report’ with the constables?
... or They need to file one against me?)

Last, I had one of my posts moved once… it’s cool.
Like I got ‘beamed’ over somewhere!  lol

LOL! I don’t know what that means really. Some (good or bad) guesses:

WHite
WorkHorse
What the Heck (or Hell)!

The suffixes on Yamaha model numbers typically indicate color.

B = Black Walnut
C = Light Cherry
M = Mahogany
PE = Polished Ebony
R = Dark Rosewood
WH = White

So your first guess is probably correct…
but it might be one of the other two.  :-)

And if it’s just a WHite Motif XF with no other improvements, people are definitely going to say “What the Heck?”. So We Hope it’ll be a WorkHorse instead. How about World Heritage?

Hi mm6
I’ve looked at your ‘previous posts’ that go back to 2009.
There is nothing listed on your ‘profile’ too.
If you own Any of the Instruments on these Forums, you’re lucky!
Luckier than a lot of folks.
There is Nothing wrong with Any of them… the grass is only ‘greener’ elsewhere.
When and if you ever decide to upgrade, that would depend on what you wish to do.
Personally, I set a ‘cap’ on price.
A little game I play with myself, and have for quite a while is setting personal goals and sticking to them.
When I bought my XF, I had a cap of $3000.
I came close!  :)
That is A LOT OF MONEY for most people.
Even the rich people,(I’m not in that club), if they don’t say,
“THAT’S A LOT OF MONEY!”....
they would have never become rich. :)
At any rate, some very great deals are also found in the ‘Used’ department.

Stay optimistic, balanced keys isn’t all that different than the XF6 or 7 which are lighter and easier to carry.
From one of your previous posts I read you have Cubase LE.
That’s a great thing!
If you can stick with Steinberg/Cubase which is now owned by Yamaha, you’ll be creatively successful.

A word of advice, fill in a little bit on your Profile.
It’ll help others try to determine where you are.

peace

During Winter NAMM 2014, Yamaha introduced white versions of their HS-series studio monitors which were initially introduced in their black versions almost a year back. So, it’s quite possible that, during Musikmesse 2014, Yamaha would introduce white versions of the Motif XF to match with the white monitors.

Hahaha.. That was a major YAMAHA tech. breakthrough, they were able to make a White version of their HS series studio monitors, and have it ready to show at NAMM.  Maybe the Motif XF will be the next YAMAHA product to get the White out treatment.  So exciting !  ;-)
