Hallo everybody, I started this thread in the MOX Forum, but it looks like it is a Cubase issue! I’m using Cubase 7.5 and a PC with Windows 8, 64 bit.
I just started recording on an instrument track in Cubase and wanted to use the Yamaha MOX-VST (the MOX is a Workstation by Yamaha) .
When I turn on the Local Control on the Keyboard, the key is sounding how it should, but the midi Data for the particular key does not arrive in cubase at all. The Cubase transporter shows a MIDI-IN Activity when I press the g-Key but nothing more. I even inserted the MIDI MONITOR plugin in the instrument track and there is a “note on- note off†activity for every other key except this one! Restaring Cubase, starting a new Project, and rebootimg the MOX-Workstation does not solve the problem. It must be a Cubase (7.5) issue, because i tried the MOX as a midi controller for anoher programm (Finale) and the particular note was recorded as expected! Even with Cubase 7 (I still have it installed in my PC) there is no problem! Is there someone here that could describe me, how to filter the incoming midi data of only one pressed key (note on-note off) in cubase. In this way I would like to undo/reset the filter (...if this is the causing reason of my problem)! Thanks for your time! |

First, and it may have nothing to do with your issue.... The MOX VST should be recorded to a MIDI track, not an INSTRUMENT track. Reading that you were recording to an Instrument Track shows me you do not yet appreciate the difference. And since you never mention the mode in which you are using the MOX we cannot eliminate user error. You realize you could setup so that the note does not transmit. You could also setup Cubase so that it does not record a single note, but these are not things you would do trivially or by accident. And since you never mention the connection between the MOX and computer we cannot even give you information about your MIDI connection or driver… Only you know what that is… If you share that information we might be able to make some suggestions. But you’ve selected not to provide any information besides Cubase 7.5, Windows 8, 64-bit.
Check you connection between the MOX and the computer

Latest Yamaha Steinberg USB driver is V1.8.3
This said, if it works in Finale & Cubase 7 but NOT in Cubase 7.5

Unfortunately the driver-update did not fix the problem… Thanks for the tip though! Any other suggestions? I should maybe add that the VSTi’s do not show any MIDI activity, only the transporter’s MIDI IN ACTIVITY does. |

...in the meantime I reinstalled Cubase 7.5 and experimented with different
The Midi Data from the middle g Note (G4)does not arrive into the various VST Instruments. Even an arpeggiator on the MOX that should also trigger the g4 doesn’t do it.
Inside Cubase, iI still didn’t have any luck finding any possible filters!
Bad_Mister any suggestions? |

No MIDI activity means the MOX VST is not properly selected to receive MIDI. But then this would mean that only the middle G key is doing the right thing by not sounding? I’m very confused by your post and I’m not at all sure which issue we are solving, the correct MIDI setup or the fact that middle G is not acting normally.
Screen shots of your configuration would be helpful.
I still don’t have verification from you on any of the drivers or version of the Editor, just that it was a good suggestion. Humor me and write down what you have or post some screenshots of your setup. This will help.

Here some screenshots that could hopefully clear the picture...: #1 I played a c-magor triad and as you can see the g-Note is didn’t “arrive” to the MOX-VST.
#2 I just played the g-Note. There is no MIDI activity in the

#7 The same experiment like #1, but in Cubase 7 this time!

Try this: On the Inspector, Change the Midi Input From “All MIDI Input”
Just want to be sure your other MIDI inputs does not interfere in anyway. |

Forgive my unpatience dear Bad_Mister, but could you make some suggestions to try solving this problem.
Are the screenshots not enough?
I can still keep on working on my projects with “workarounds” (mostly with the earlier Cubase version), but it pisses me off that I cannot find a solution… :) |
