Have recently purchased a MOTIF Rack XS, am using Korg Triton ProX as controller and an older version of Cakewalk Pro Audio (6 or 7) running on Windows 7 x64. Have connected these multiple ways, tried with and without using the Yamaha driver (other interface is an M-Audio Fast Track Pro). Even the most simplistic setup - Motif XS Rack set to MIDI, using 1 Midi cable going out from M-Audio to in on Motif, no controller, playing back a drum track results in a piano tone as well as drums on every note. Anyone seen this? Is it a product of the old software? There is no explicit configuration of THRU in this version of Cakewalk that I can find, but would not think this would matter in the simple config described above. Thanks. |

The problem you are describing is a MIDI routing issue. Not an issue with your Motif-Rack XS. Plug a pair of headphones and list to the Rack XS via its own Phones jack to prove it to yourself. You are undoubtedly routing signal inproperly through your software. Turn local control OFF on your keyboard controller. Not much to do with the Rack XS itself. Sorry. |

Sorry, but the unwanted piano tone is definitely coming from the Motif XS Rack. In troubleshooting this I have removed everything from the equation except for the computer, the Motif, and 1 midi cable coming from the computer out to the Motif in. No controller. Every Multi has a piano tone accompanying any and all voices on any and all channels. A newly initialized multi has same behavior. I think I am going to take from this that because you have never heard of this problem, that its probably the old version of Cakewalk I am using. Have looked for CUBASE AI4 that came with these originally for download, but it does not seem to be for sale anywhere anymore. |
