I play in a cover band and I pass along the mp3 to my band mates to learn the tunes.

Same here.  However, it just record my laptop’s audio into Cubase and export an mp3.  Certainly not ideal for situations where I need good quality audio, but fine when I need to get songs to band members to learn or to arrangers for charts.

Correct! Better than the old days when you tried to catch it on the radio and got like 3/4 of the song...lolz!

However, recently the HQ Vids can convert into decent .mp3s

I sometimes covert youtube videos into mp3. But I still prefer buying online though.:)

I have an HTC Droid Incredible. Which is a Google phone. (And my super Sweet motif XF!) I have YouTube mate and YouTube downloader on my smartphone and they work flawlessly to download either as a video or an mp3. Both free apps. Perhaps buying an Androidshould be an option??  Lol. PS I am NOT spam. Thank you. Haha.

It is good that there are a few videos with a good quality already so you can pretty much translate it to great mp3 as well.  You have to make do with cutting the extra parts at the end though where they put the credits and all that. 

I hated having to convert the crappy ones to mp3 before but most of the time, I am left with no choice but to stomach the bad quality.

It seems that some audiointerfaces has build in recorder. Well i don’t know if it is true but mine (RME Fireface UFX) has build in recorder and i can record anything with it original quality. But i never use it for stealing or pirating at all.
But it is pretty useful if i like some melody over youtube or online tv and etc and if i want to study that melody or song i just need 2-3 seconds to turn there recorder on and record that

I don’t know what would happen because I didn’t click on the link. Usually, clicking on malicious links results in getting a virus, bug, or trojan deposited to your computer.

Just to clarify, there is no such thing as good quality audio on YouTube.
Period.
