As mentioned in the first page of this thread, the above statement is FALSE.

The XF has considerably larger ROM for samples, 128MB of DIMM, and allows for flash storage (though this can be an expensive option).

XS has no DIMMs out of the box but can have upto 1GB (some people report success with upto 2GB) of inexpensive ram, but has no built-in flash, so samples must be reloaded after poweroff/on.

There are other differences, see the specs. 

The fact is that the XF is a newer model and an upgrade to the XS, but how much of an upgrade would depend on your particular needs… many of the sounds are quite similar so a lot basically comes down to the memory versus flash question. 

but no matter how you slice it, one is NOT a clone of the other.
