As you know, My Motif has only MIDI IN, OUT and THRU. I just purchased another 16 track workstation keyboard that only accepts USB. How do I get them to “talk” to each other in the simplest and least expensive way? I do not want to connect my Motif to my computer, except for, perhaps the purpose of using the Voice Editor. I’ve seen that a simple MIDI IN and OUT to USB cable only works for connecting my Motif to a computer. It seems I need a host box. The host boxes I’ve seen start at 600 dollars! My goal is this: When using my sequencer on my Motif (or the controller in this case), I want to be able to set things up to where I can dedicate a sound from the slave unit to a track instead of of one of my Motif’s sounds. Thanks for the help!

OK. I wanted to make sure that your keyboard was USB “class compliant”, meaning that it doesn’t need external drivers. Fortunately, Casio says it is class compliant:

A USB host shouldn’t cost anything near $600 (US dollars, that is). See this:

You’re welcome! Hopefully you’ll now be able to affordably connect the Casio and use it with your Motif.
