Hello all,

I have been working on a voice that has an envelope with a short attack with a long release.

The voice sounds perfectly when I play it on my MOTIF XF8 in VOICE mode. However, when I add it to a Performance and play that voice as a Part in PERFORMANCE mode, the voice sounds “clipped”. It sounds less bright, softer and the release is much, much shorter. Weird.

If I use that voice in a PERFORMANCE in SONG mode, the problem persists. If I assign that voice to a track in SONG mode and play it, the voice sounds perfect.

Seems to me that some setting in the PERFORMANCE is impacting the way that voice plays or sounds.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Grant

Are you turning ON Parameter with Voice before you select the Voice for the Part?

http://www.motifator.com/index.php/support/view/motif_xs_parameter_with_voice

If Parameter with Voice was OFF when you selected the Voice…
Turn Parameter with Voice ON, temporarily select another Voice, then reselect the one you want.

Does that resolve what you’re experiencing?

Hi 5pinDIN,

Yep, that fixed it. Thank you so much. What does “Parameter with Voice ON”, do, may I enquire?

Hi 5pinDIN,

Yep, that fixed it. Thank you so much.

You’re welcome.

synthmax -

What does “Parameter with Voice ON”, do, may I enquire?

From the support article I previously linked to:
Parameter with Voice set to ON:
Determines whether or not the following parameter settings of the selected Voice are copied from the Voice to the current Part when you change a Voice for the current Part individually.
• Arpeggio settings
• Filter Cutoff Frequency
• Filter Resonance
• Amplitude EG
• Filter EG
• Pitch Bend Range (Upper/Lower)
• Note Shift

The most likely Parameters related to your situation are Amplitude EG settings, although Filter settings could also come into play.
