Does anyone know what analogue synth, if any, this patch is emulating?

It’s in Preset Bank 9, 059 / D11 on the MOXF8.

I was experimenting with it the other night at band rehearsal and noticed some lovely phasey-type effects when AF1 and AF2 are activated.

My band plays a couple of early Duran Duran covers and I’d been using the JP Strings patch but wasn’t overly happy with it.

The Vintage Polystrings just has the right vibe for these songs though.

I am guessing it could be a Jupiter sound, Korg Polysix maybe even a Crumar? I don’t know...but if anyone does I’d greatly appreciate the sharing of information!

I don’t know for certain what synth the Vintage Polystrings Voice might be emulating. Here’s what I do know…
- For those with a Motif XF, the Voice is factory User 1 059/D11 if it hasn’t been overwritten.
- The Waveform for Element 1 is “Fat PWM St” (In case anyone is wondering, St = Stereo, not strings.)
- The Waveform for Element 2 is “OB Mod Saw”
- Some abbreviations are explained here:
http://www.motifator.com/index.php/forum/viewthread/462514/
- Element 2 won’t be heard unless the Assign 1 knob is turned up. On a MOXF, TONE 3 has to be selected.

There could have been several sources for the “Fat PWM” Waveform, and no clue from the name. Jupiter seems a reasonable guess for emulation, and I’ll throw out Juno. It could just be a generic PWM string sound.

Yes, but it’s not the primary sound in the Voice. The OB Waveform isn’t heard at all unless the Assign 1 knob, which is programmed to increase Element 2 level, is turned up. Otherwise Element 2 amplitude is 0 (zero).
