Has anyone experienced issues with their Mic while using the integrated sampling feature?
I was told to put the gain to a minimum but am unable to hear anything output from my Mic unless the Gain is blasting through my speakers. The sample of course then does not sound good the least bit. Any help much appreciated.

Welcome to the forum.

With the proper type of mic and correct setup, there shouldn’t be a problem.

See page 124 of the XF Reference Manual (http://download.yamaha.com/file/48531
)…

Rear panel GAIN should be set to provide enough level for the (10) Level Meters to occasionally hit near maximum deflection without exceeding it.

The (4) Record Monitor setting should help with one of your issues. (Ignore the sentence beginning with “The time indicated here...”.) I’d suggest monitoring with headphones, not speakers.
