Hello,

initial info :
- motif xs8
- cubase 6.5
- win7 x64
- the last drivers
- use FW audio interface

I have difficulties to configure my staff to be able simultaneously use motif for
1. audio in recording (mono L) of mic and guitars to cubase audio track
2. use motifxs sound generator as a hardware vsti

Could you explain me step by step instruction on how to configure
1. motif xs
2. cubase 6.5 pro

I need the following vsti use cases :

1. record/play/render stereo/mono track (like I do it with a soft vsti)
- (a) how many tracks I can have simultaneously in stereo? in mono?
- (b) could I have stereo and mono tracks at the same time ?

2.  when motifxs drums recording
- (a) could I split each instrument (kick, snare, hats,..) on individual channels (m1-m14 return lanes)?
- (b) how to configure mono (kick, snare) and stereo (hats, fx,..) channels ? it is possible to use mono/stereo combination at the same time?

3. use the motifxs effects (reverb, delay, compressor,...) as insert/send in a cubase project on other than motifxs tracks, for example the track recorded with some soft vsti of cubase ?

4. when I did all necessary configurations of motifxs for a cubase project (audioin, motifxs as vsti, drums, lanes, fx,...), could this configuration be saved within the project? how?

Sorry for many questions at once. I’d like to have a clear and comprehensive instruction for the essential use of motifxs inside cubase.
The motif’s manual does not give all this explanations.

Thank you for your help in advance!

Kind regards,
VM

P.S.--------------

perhaps it is not possible but if one could share the cubase templates with all necessary configuration between motifxs et cubase 6.5 for the cases
1. recording audioin
2. recoding motifxs vsti
3. recording motifxs drums multichannels
4. exporting motifxs song into cubase
5. recording/exporting motifxs patterns into cubase

one more question is there difference between cubase 8 and 6.5 from the motifxs functional point of view /to avoid the surprises in the case of upgrade/ ?

You forgot to mention what audio interface you are using.

You forgot to mention what audio interface you are using.

Based on…
initial info :
- motif xs8
- cubase 6.5
- win7 x64
- the last drivers
- use FW audio interface

...it might be the mLAN16E2, which is standard with that model

OK, you have mLAN card configured with FW16e formware.

Are you successful getting audio in and out of Cubase in general? That is, Cubase playback comes though the XS into your speakers and you have recorded audio from either the A/D in or the XS itself into Cubase.

If you have then I can probably help you with the fine tuning you need to do for simultaneously recording of mic and guitars to cubase while using motif xs sound generator as a vsti.

yes, I can get and record audio in, and audio out works well too.

I found how to add Motif XS VSTi (F11) and configure it to have at maximum 8 stereo channels (Setup vsti Motifxs Editor). When it is online the configuration is saved automatically in cubase project.
When I do not use one of m1-m14 lines in motif vsti, I can allocate it to AudioIn (F4).

But I did not find the way :
- to do mono channel
- to split drum track on separate mono and stereo channels
- to have more than 8 channels
- use motif effects for not motif instruments (other soft vsti)

Also the questions on how to record motif patterns directly to Cubase project is not clear for me.
