I know there are those here who will be interested in this new version of the John Melas’ Waveform Editor.  From John this morning:

A new version 2.0.0 of Motif Waveform Editor is available!

http://www.jmelas.gr/motif/wave.php

The biggest new feature is that now Motif Waveform Editor is
a sample player soft synth: You can use your Motif or any other
connected MIDI keyboard to play music with your Waveforms
before loading them on the Motif! You can even apply filters
or envelopes to them!

ASIO and WDM Kernel Streaming are supported on Windows
to ensure minimum playback latency!

For any experiencing difficulty opening the new Editor after installing, please review this post:

I was having error issues...after installing the new Waverform Editor...upon trying to open the Editor.

After numerous attempts to uninstall and reinstall, I emailed John with the error message, and he immediately emailed back this response:

“...Yes this is a very fresh program with all latest technologies :-)

You need to install all the latest updates from Microsoft (Universal CRT)and the program will run fine!

If you are on Windows XP then you need to install the Visual Studio 2015 redistributable instead:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
John Melas”

Since I am running XP, I installed the referenced file, and that resolved the issue.

For Win 8.1 64 Bit -
On starting it comes up with an error message box – saying the computer doesn’t have api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll installed.
Googled that and downloaded from the MS website.

I’m running XP SP3, and I installed the Visual Studio 2015 redistributable. The Waveform Editor is running as a demo.

I found what appear to be some bugs. If the USR tab is selected, and an SF2 file with too many Waveforms and Key Banks for USR memory is attempted to be imported, it results in an error message…
1) “Not all waveforms could be imported from [filename] Bank USR is full!”
That’s not surprising. However, clicking “OK” then results in…
2) “Motif Waveform Editor has encountered a problem and needs to close. [...]”

I also tried importing the same SF2 file with the FL1 tab selected, and the file initially loaded without a problem. However, subsequent attempts have resulted in message 2.

Hopefully John Melas will see this and resolve these issues.

Welcome to the forum.

You might want to ask John Melas if there are alternative payment options available…

Slightly off topic:

Paypal is safer to use than your own credit card for online purchases. After a few identity theft situations due to online purchases, I changed to using Paypal only. That way only Paypal has my credit card number not every single merchant I deal with.

I actually opened a Paypal credit card account which lets me avoid giving them any bank information but still be “verified”. I always use this card for online purchases when Paypal is not supported and my main credit card is never exposed online.

I have had no further identity thefts since I made this change a few years ago.

I haven´t say paypal is not safe. I just prefer not to buy with intermediaries. Specially when the conditions of paypal don´t fit to europeans.

I am from Spain.

http://www.guru.com/answers/questions/30738/paypal-withdrawals-are-not-for-europeans.html#.VyjKyIThDIU

Theres other lot of reason too (just browse “european paypal")

I have written John (thanks for the email adress 5pinDin).

NO answer.
So...no purchase!

Hi,

John is pretty good about responding to questions, just give him time. Maybe try sending the email again.

Also, the waveform editor (and other Melas tools) are great and worth purchasing. John makes these programs himself and they go far beyond the editors that Yamaha makes or any other keyboard company for that matter. We’re fortunate as Motif series users to have these resources.
