Hey guys, I know this may be a NEWB question but
I would really appreciate it if some of you guys
would humor me with an answer.

I have been playing Piano for over 10 years,
However I am just now trying to move into the
realm of developing and producing.

I currently have a MOTIF-XF and it is connected
to Cubase. In addition I have an Audio Interface.

I am trying to learn how to DUMP each track of a
Performance/Song/Pattern into Cubase so that each
part is located on it’s own track.

Currently I simply Dump the whole Audio file
in using my Audio Interface, however this is
counter-productive because I cannot make alterations
to individual tracks (volume, pans, effects, etc.)

So My question is this, How Can I do this?

NOTE: I currently don’t have FW

For songs, you can load the song directly into Cubase and it will automatically set up the tracks exactly as they were in the XF. If you save an All file, Cubase can open that file and import any of the songs in the file. Use a USB drive or the XF Ethernet connection to get the file from the XF into the computer.

To record Performances or Patterns into Cubase, you simply record the MIDI Out of the XF.

See page 232 in the Reference Manual about Quick Setups. Choose quick setup #1 for Performances, #2 for recorded Patterns.

For more details, read the Cubase manual about importing XF songs and recording MIDI.

Thank you for your response, this may be another Newb question, however I thought MIDI only transferred the data of the track and not the sound?

How can I edit sound if they are not loaded into the DAW? wouldn’t only the Midi be transferred to computer?
