Hi there, I have Some questions about copying effect settings from one voice to another.
One other question about effect settings in a drum voice: can I set the effects to all single samples/ parts at once or only sample by sample....? I loaded some nice drum samples but somehow the knobs for turning in reverb and chorus have no result. I found out that I could add effect to one single note/ part/ sample but with several drum kits in one single user drum voice this is quite tedious affair....
Thanks for help, tips, etc. !

Yes, I am not in front of my board, however, if you have your manual, look in the index of the manual for “copy effects settings” and there is the instructions how to achieve this. I believe that it is relatively easy. Kenny |

Based on your post, it seems that System Effects alone would suit your needs. See http://www.motifator.com/index.php/support/view/insertion_effects_differ_from_the_system_effects If Insertion Effects are set to “thru” (which is the default for an initialized Drum Voice), then System Effect setup is easy. For the REVERB and CHORUS knobs to have an effect, the Tone 2 LED has to be lit (by using [SELECTED PART CONTROL]), and then the knobs have to be turned past the default values, then set where you want. |

Thanks for your quick response, will try the ‘thru’ setting and see if the Tone 2 knobs work this time. Will let you know. Couldn’t find an answer on the other question (manual), i.e. if it’s possible to copy the effect settings (system and insert effects) from one voice to another (in voice mode). Anyone ... ? |

Hi Mr. 5pinDIN, unfortunately the tips didn’t work, the tone 2 knob doesn’t have any effect ... don’t know if I’m setting the ‘thru’ mode in the right screen, I press SF .. (FX), then the screen with the ‘connection’ of effects; here I set the insert effects ‘thru’ (there is none selected). What I notice is that in the top left screen I can select each individual note/sample and edit the effect settings, in this way I do get effects on the sound, but like this I have to set it for each individal drum sound ... Then I tried a new ‘initialized’ drum voice (I hear a snare sound on every key) but the same problem appears: the tone 2 knob doesn’t give reverb/ chorus (after picking up the default setting of the knob)… Do I miss something or am I looking in the wrong screen to give in the ‘thru’ setting? Hope you can help me out… (The same issue happens in mixing mode (pattern): with all voices the tone 2 knob results in more/less reverb, but the user drum voice doesn’t respond ...) |

Let’s try this one thing at a time…
Select PRE DR 001(A01) Power Standard Kit 1.
Turn the CHORUS knob fully counterclockwise, then clockwise. The display should show the rotation and the Chorus level should change when the A1 key is played. Does that happen?
The change in Reverb and Chorus should be noticeable with keys other than A1
If it works correctly with a Preset kit, we can discuss User kits next. Let us know. |

Debat Mr. 5pinDIN, the tone 2 knob works fine with Pr drum voices and also with drum voices I copied to user drum voice section. The custos drum voice (with wav samples loaded on DIMM board) does respond to the tone 2 knobs for Pan and EQ functions. It seems that all the drum samples in the user drum voice have zero effect (unless added per individual sample/ note) and therefore nothing happens raising the reverb or chorus level ( multiply 0 and the result is always 0). Don’t know of it’s possible to cooy the effect settings of a preset drum voice to the user drum voice so there is some reverb on all notes/ drum sounds ‘at once’? |

To use only System Effects in a Drum Voice, Insertion Effect Out has to be set to “thru” for each key. See page 129 of the XS Owner’s Manual. Yes, that is a “per key” setting. If that’s desired, in order to make programming a new custom Drum Kit easier, I’ve created and attached a zipped “All” file where the first User Drum Voice (A01) has those “thru” settings, with the Insertion Reverb and Chorus Sends set to maximum level 127. Those levels could be adjusted for individual keys - the REVERB and CHORUS knobs will affect all of the keys. The Init Drum FX Thru Voice could be loaded to any User Drum location. (Since the remainder of the User locations in the file are empty, there’s probably not much point in loading the file in entirety.) Common Parameters of a Voice can be copied from one to another, but that includes much more than just Effects. File Attachments

Thanks for the file, will use this for the next user drum voice! Still hoping for a simple solution (not per key) for copying some reverb to all the keys in the voice. Not quite shure if the Copy procedure on page 134 of the manual can be used for this purpose? |

You’re welcome, I hope you find it useful as a starting point, although I expect you might be adjusting the Insertion Effects Send levels.

Even if that would copy just the Effects, for Drums it’s still per key. Also, it’s a rare situation when the Effects settings from one Voice would be appropriate for another, especially when dealing with the possibility of a different sound on every key of a Drum Kit. As I said, the Init Drum Voice I posted will itself likely need to be adjusted. |
