Hi Guys, Recently saw an issue while copying events. I had a piano track in which I copied measure 9:1:00-31:1:00 to measure 31. When I went to the edit notes window I saw a SUSTAIN event added at 31:1:00, but there was no SUSTAIN event at 9:1:00. Not sure why this happens. I am using OS1.5 Has anyone faced such an issue or is that I am doing something wrong ?
Thanks,

Is it possible that the SUSTAIN event already existed at 31:1:00? Perhaps the pedal hadn’t been released by the end of the previous measure? |

I am afraid not, it was blank 31:1:00 onwards. Have seen this happening a couple of times now and please note that only SUSTAIN gets added, I had other events also like VOLUME,MOD WHEEL ,but none gets added |

What was the “clock” at the last SUSTAIN event at the end of measure 8?

-- it was at 001:01:000 Velocity 127
-- it was at 30:04:00 Velocity 000 |

Sustain doesn’t have “Velocity” - you surely meant “value”. The first event isn’t clear to me. It suggests that the last (and only) SUSTAIN event occurs at the beginning of the first measure, with the pedal at maximum. I’m interested in looking into this further. It might be a lot easier to diagnose if the actual original data could be seen. If you’re willing to post an “All†file, I can load it and see what might be going on. The file doesn’t have to include much - in fact, I’d prefer it that way.
You could…
2) Load my Init User Banks.X0A file, available here:

Rightly pointed out :), yes I meant value. I have attached the ALL file as per your suggestion and the song is in 001. Its the first track. In fact after loading the song after the init process, I again tried to do the same, copied 009:01:000 - 031:01:000 to 121:01:000(that’s the end of the track) and again same results the SUSTAIN again got inserted. Thanks for your help :). File Attachments

It indeed does appear that there’s a SUSTAIN event on Track 1 at 001:01:000, value 127 (on). Since there’s no additional SUSTAIN event to turn it off beforehand, SUSTAIN is still on at 009:01:000. Therefore copying 009:01:000 - 031:01:000 will include the still-active SUSTAIN, and correctly place it at the beginning of the first measure being copied to. Whether or not the prolonged use of sustain is musically appropriate, the XF is accurately copying the measures you asked it to. If sustain was off by the end of measure 8, the XF wouldn’t place the SUSTAIN event as it does. You could verify that by inserting a CC064 SUSTAIN event with value “000” at the end of measure 8, and see what happens when you copy 009:01:000 - 031:01:000 under that condition. |

You’re welcome - I’m glad that clarified what was happening. |
