I noticed the desire for friendly chat between Forum members.

Has there ever been such a thing as a chat system in place here?
Would a chat specific area ever be considered by Keyfax?

I don’t know what software it needs or costs associated either.

From my continent to yours friends, hearty Greetings!!

Chas

Private messages are the best way to
chat with someone here in private. Otherwise, unm,
I’d sat we’re already chatting. Isnt that
what the Mo Lounge is - a chat room?

In days of yore, some of us used IRC quite a bit. You can start an IRC channel anytime and link to it. ‘#YamahaMotif’comes to mind…

Hi Dave,
I hope you are having a real relaxing, generally great weekend.
Oh, I didn’t mean to have Private Messages. I was much more inclined towards a live Chat area for friendly banter which runs twenty four hours a day, where the Chat page is visible to all who wish to participate, it is often a scrolling page as the messages are posted, and the posters name/handle is shown in front of his comments or whatever he’s written. Ofcourse it would utilize the same auto sensor which these Forum pages already use and delete or mask any swearing or other obscene language, racial slurs…

There are enough of us here who feel a positive friendly connection from others, for it to be fun too. Around the globe.
These Chat’s would also allow us to give/get live support/instructions for some of thee simpler applications for members just staring out. But mainly just to “shoot the breeze”.

I am also still curious about: Ah, how come there isn’t any Sticky Threads area, for those common MAQ?
There is already a symbol for them, correct?

Chas

Welcome to the forum.

Loading an “All” file overwrites all User data. Sorry, but unless you previously saved a backup file with your own data, there’s no way to restore it.

By the way, it’s usually better to post questions related to the XS here:

Wow, talk about getting lost in a corn maze…

How would one stumble into this thread with a question?

I hope yours is a rhetorical question…
...because otherwise, I haven’t a clue.

Yes…

“How would one stumble into this thread with a question?” he mused rhetorically....

I’m sorry to hear about your issue… it’s happened to everyone in the beginning.
Your profile area states you’re in England with a Motif XS, but needs to state what computer format you have.
Below are some links that helped me when I had your exact issue back in Sept 2011.
Look for the ‘compatibility list for Dec 2014’ near the bottom,
This will help you to know which USB drive will be needed.
Yamaha Downloads for Motif XS6/7/8 United Kingdom is HERE.
Below is the BackUp Procedure from Yamaha U.S. I couldn’t find this in the UK page ??  It should be correct.
BACKUP PROCEDURE Yamaha U.S.
Hope this helps, if you have any questions, reply to this post- or,
Start a new fresh post within the XS Forum area, which is what I would do.
WELCOME TO MOTIFATOR !  :)
edited: If you have the a XS manual handy, the key words are
ALL FILE BACKUP, with or without system.
(I usually do one each day, at days end, ‘with system’. This way EVERYTHING will be backed up, including preferences like screen color and other settings.)
