Greetings everyone first time posting. Does anyone know how to play multiple tracks in song or pattern mode at the same time? When I record beginning from a performance that has let’s say an EP layered with a synth pad into a song or a pattern, then both tracks are played and recorded live. Fantastic. But when I then go the song or pattern I recorded into, I can only play one midi channel or track at a time, either the EP or the synth pad not both at once. I cannot find any settings to allow me to assign two or more tracks to the same midi channel to allow me to play multiple parts at the same time as in the EP and synth pad simultaneously. Am I missing something, or is this a limitation of the Motif series sequencer? Thanks very much for any help. |

Welcome to the forum. Yes, you are missing something. Sequencer Tracks are MIDI transmitters, while Parts are receivers. The keyboard transmits on a single MIDI channel. In order for multiple Parts to be played simultaneously, they all must share the same Receive Channel as the keyboard is transmitting on. See page 194 of the XF Reference Manual. EDIT: Your member profile doesn’t indicate that you use a Motif XF, but apparently an ES. If so, see page 235 in the ES Owner’s Manual. If you do have an XF, please update your profile. |

Thanks 5pinDIN, for the suggestions. Actually I now have a Moxf8. I did have an ES. Will look for how to change the receive channel in the manual. |

You’re welcome. The Receive Channel information is on page 117 of the MOXF Reference Manual. Please post MOXF related questions in the MOXF forum, since information and references often differ depending on the model. Thanks for updating your profile. |

Part of the confusion (sorry about pun) in trying to find certain parameter changes in SONG and PATTERN Modes, is that many settings are actually in the extended Mode called MIXING...such as the Receive Channel parameter...which you will find out when you reference the Manual per direction from 5pinDIN. When you go into MIXING Mode from a SONG or PATTERN, keep in mind that you are still in SONG or PATTERN Mode for practical purposes. The MIX will be referencing the PARTS of the SONG or PATTERN you entered it from. When you enter Edit from the MIXING, you will find both COMMON and PART edits available. |
