Newbie with problem. I’ve read several of the tutorials but still coming up short. I have several 2 part performances. All I want to do is assign Part 1 to FC1 and Part 2 to FC2 for volume control. I’ve unclicked the boxes in the controller assign mode except for Fc1 in part 1 and Fc2 for part 2 per page 10 of the tutorial I read here, but the pedals are still inoperative. What am I missing? |

By “controller assign mode” I am assuming you are referring to RCV SW (Receive Switch) on page 69 of the MOX Reference Manual. Try putting a check in the Exp(Expression) box on that page. |

I don’t have the Motif 8 manual. I have one for my ES6 however. Actually I was referring to a link to Understanding Controller Assigns that I found in the Motif classic archives. So I will try that expression pedal too. I left the control change box x’d because that was the only way I could get the sustain pedal to work on Part 1 piano. As you can probably tell, I’m quite the novice. I packed up my Motif and took it to a local repair shop because he thought he’d have no problem but he came up empty too. It has to be simple. I’ve read the tutorials that say you have to edit in the Voice mode but I don’t understand that I’d want to make a global edit for a Voice because I may want to Use the Strings as a voice and rely on FC1 for my default volume control, as an example, so I ignored that guidance. |

OK, now I am a little confused. Your profile says you have a Motif and a Motif ES, and you are posting in the MOX Forum! Exactly what machine are we talking about? |

Yes indeed. Screwup #1. I have a Motif Classic. I clicked the Expression box and it activated my FC1 pedal for volume on part one but it still controls part 2 and Fc-2 has no effect on Part 2. Stumped? |

I am stretching just a little attempting to help you with your Motif, but you are going to need to set up the Receive Switch for each PART...separately. These parameter settings are on a per PART basis. Try this:
Edit PART (1): check FC1 and EXP only
BTW, you can download the Manual HERE |

I thought that’s what I was doing. Edit part 1 click appropriate boxes FC1, control change, sustain and expression and then edit part 2 and click on Control change, Fc2 and expression. I’ll check out the manual. I read something that said the output volume had to be set to 0 but that didn’t help either. So Part 1 is responding like I need it to but I can’t fade in my strings from Part 2 yet. The slider volume option is too clumsy for me. Sorry but this is my first foray into programming any keyboard and it’s rather daunting. I’m getting the Performance Edits pretty good so far with the exception of this problem. |

I’ve just spent a couple of frustrating hours on this. I have a piano in part 1 and strings in part 2 that I want to fade into the piano part. I’ve gotten it to where FC2 on part 2 is doing what I want but part 1’s volume on FC1 is relative to the volume on FC2 so if I don’t have some volume on FC2, FC1’s piano part is inaudible even though FC2 is unchecked in Rcv Sw. Grrrrr. Should I repost this in Motif Classic you think? You know somebody else has had an issue like this. |

If by “older” you’re referring to threads in the Archive, then that’s correct, you can’t reply to them. |
