Hi all,

My wife has an ES8 and is extremely overwhelmed by the manual which to her was written by aliens :)

A few questions to you good peoples:

1.  How can she adjust the tempo of a drum sound?
2.  Is there an intro & outro fill with the use of the drum sounds?

She does know how to change the instrument voice easily but that is about it.

Suggestions?  Thanks in advance!

I presume that by “drum sound” tempo you’re referring to that of an Arpeggio (Arp).

There are a few ways to accomplish that. An easy approach in Voice and Performance modes is to use Knob 4 (TEMPO) when the [PAN/SEND] button is ON (lit). (See pages 81 and 90 of the “alien"-written ES Owner’s manual.  ;-) )

This should explain the situation:

Greetings and welcome to you and your wife!

Honestly the best thing to do at this stage is to pick up a copy (download or physical DVD) of the Motif ES video. Once you’ve viewed this you’ll obviously have some specific questions which you can search on either in the forums or the site as a whole.

It’s best to at least vaguely get up to speed with how the instrument functions via the video because - and especially with what is now ad ten year old+ instrument - you might find it hard to get too many people here fired up about very basic questions since they have been asked and answered thousands of times.

That said, we are here to and will help!

PS Drum tempo depends upon what you’re doing. If you’re just playing a performance then it’s the tempo of the arpeggio that is driving the part (see above). But if it’s in a sequence, it’s via the tempo of the pattern or song.
