FOR Motif XF owners....
Firstly, thanks to Yamaha for this one, and to B.Minor/ 5pinDIN
for the finding.

It is for XF owners (see attached pdfs)
...this will save a little time for those interested.

I’m assuming it will probably appear on our (XF) version eventually since it’s release date is today, but was discovered previously.

That might not be the case. The European Yamaha download page for the XF does not have links for previous Additional Sample Libraries (Inspiration in a Flash, CP1 Piano, Twisted Tools Selection), although the MOXF page does.

Why Yamaha would choose to provide these libraries as .X3A files (usable by both the XF and MOXF), but not have links to them on the XF download page, is a puzzler. As much as possible, I’ll continue to make direct download links available, avoiding the issue.

On my iPad im not able to view file content but I’m curious if anyone who downloaded the EDM file with samples, arps, etc, noticed on the download page another file (100mb) called something like Twisted Tools?  It was immediately under the file mentioned in these threads.  Just curious....thnx

1- what happens to those voices when EDM .X3A goes in?
2- is there a way to have both?
... or do they replace one another. ?

Whenever an “All” file is loaded in its entirety, the previous User data is overwritten (this doesn’t apply to Samples/Waveforms in flash modules). To avoid that, the contents have to be selectively loaded. Depending on your goals, that could involve using Load Type “1bank voice”, or loading individual Voices, Performances, etc.

If you want to audition the EDM library with minimal impact, I’d suggest:
1) Save an “All” file of your current data, FL1/FL2 “without sample”.
2) Load the EDM .X3A file as “all”, making sure to first set Load options USR>USR, FL1>USR, FL2>USR. (This loads the Samples to volatile User RAM, not the flash module(s).)
3) Make note of anything you might want to keep.
4) Reload the “All” file saved in step 1, making sure to first set Load options USR>USR, FL1>None, FL2>None.
5) Load what you noted in step 3, in a manner that doesn’t overwrite anything you want to keep.

Not that I’m aware of. I checked all of the Voices, and (besides the Samples/Waveforms included in the “All” file) just three of the 32 are dependent on Waveforms that aren’t found in the XS. They are:
A01 Timemachine YK
A11 Analog Pluck YK
B13 Space Texture YK

Some Arps that aren’t in the XS are also used. I only checked the first few Voices, and found that A01 Timemachine YK uses those Arps. It’s possible other Voices might as well.

I didn’t check Effects.

It seems that the file could be converted to .X0A via software, and would likely be mostly usable on an XS.
