Member lliw asked in the MOXF forum about having the Classic Motif Voices for a MOXF. I created an “All Voice” (.X3V) file of the Classic’s Preset Voices, which can be downloaded. There are no samples from the Classic - the Voices are based on those in the ROM of the model that the file is loaded into. Based on downloads, there seems to be some interest beyond that of lliw. If anyone with an XF would like the file, it’s available here:

Just out of curiosity, are these voice banks dramatically different from subsequent upgrades with technology? Or more of a sentimental journey for long time users?  Thanks.

In my opinion, it’s mostly the latter, and certain Voices in the Classic reflected the sounds of even earlier times. Of course, sometimes that’s exactly what’s wanted, even for those who never owned a Classic.

Well said 5pin.  Reminds me a few yrs back I longed for an Ensoniq ESQ1....my first workstation....8 voice polyphony and all.  Bought a used one and once the thrill was gone (again) I returned to the XF!  Costly nostalgia.

...Out on the road today,
I saw a DEADHEAD sticker on a Cadillac
A little voice inside my head said,
“Don’t look back. You can never look back”....

When on the road, it’s usually a good idea to look where you’re going, not where you’ve been.  ;-)
