It was more work than I had anticipated. Steely Dan is timeless. They finished recording this particular track only to find most of it erased when they came back to the studio the following day. (I heard that when Roger Nichols relayed the news to Donald Fagen, he just turned around and walked away...) They attempted another cut, however Don and Walt weren’t satisfied with the end result, so it was scrapped. And the rest is history. |
