Tried 2 power supplies. Keyboard is not being moved or jostled. The MOXf 8 shuts off after about 10-15 minutes. Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas before I go thru service call/ Thanks.

It is not random, it is certainly not the power supply… the MOXF can be set to power down when not in use.
Try the Owner’s Manual page 18. Set the parameter as you would desire, then [STORE] your preference.
Yes, you can opt to defeat this feature. You will find this “ECO” mode on more and more electronic products from now on.

Thanks, I never set that parameter, and have not had it shut off ( Utility/other/AutoOff) until recently.....I just set it to off and will see.

You don’t have to set it. It comes set from the factory set at “30 Minutes”, by default. You have to decide whether you are going to be a good planetary citizen and have your unit power off when you are not using it or not.
:-)

How it works
If you have edited a parameter (a single parameter) the AUTO OFF will not power down, because you have not yet STORED that edit… this means there is new data in the instruments Edit Buffer… it will simply remain on. But if you have recently stored all your edits (nothing currently changed in the various Edit Buffers) your instrument, by default, will power down after the set amount of time: 30 minutes. It will not, repeat will not, POWER DOWN while you have edited and unstored data in your Edit Buffers - that is how it is designed to work.

It will also NOT POWER DOWN if you set the AUTO POWER DOWN parameter to OFF… and then STORE that as your preference.

Just FYI: when you edit something _ that is change a parameter from its currently STORED condition _ a small “E” will appear in the upper right corner of the screen. While that “E” is present, the MOXF will NOT power down (even if the AUTO POWER DOWN parameter is set to a number of minutes). Because you would potentially lose that edit if it powered off… so this is why you may not have noticed this until now. But it does not change the fact that you should at least read the first 30 pages of your Owner’s Manual (no one will have sympathy for you if you don’t… so the repair shop person would probably charge you $80 just for teaching you this lesson)… Ouch!

You’ve already purchased a second power supply (recommended to have 2 anyway...) The smart MOXF user always keeps a new, spare, PA150 in their case, just in case!!! If you gig, having a spare is only smart!!!

Please don’t misunderstand - all electronics (due to laws in Europe) will have this new ECO-mode, basically from now on. It helps save the planet by turning unused electronic devices OFF (or technically to STAND-BY) after a period of time if left unused. If you read the info on page 18, you now know how to defeat this feature. Learn to use it or remain baffled!!!
:-)

But for goodness’ sake don’t replace your Power supply or worse, pay for a costly visit to the repair shop… If you don’t believe us or your Owner’s Manual, then call your dealer or call Yamaha. But there is nothing wrong with your MOXF. It is behaving exactly as it should.

Hope that helps.
