I was able to contact David at VKS and he was very helpful. He indicated that I should try loading his Motif XS files onto the Flash module, rather than converting them first to Motif XF files.  He thought that the conversion to an XF file could have corrupted the XS file. When I viewed the file in Waveform Editor, I noted that the XS file had Voices and User Banks assigned, whereas the XF file did not.

I wasn’t too optimistic that the transfer to the MOXF8 would work, but I decided to give it a try anyway.  To my surprise, I was able to load the files and associated Voices into User Bank 2.  I did this with the Farfisa files.  I am not sure what they are supposed to sound like, so I don’t really know if the Voices are optimized, but at least I know that it is possible.

To be helpful for others, some details might be necessary. Since XS files are not directly compatible with the MOXF, how did you load the XS files? Did you use Melas’ software?

Yes, I used John Melas’ Waveform Editor software.
